What is considered a large pelvic mass?

A large pelvic mass can refer to any abnormal growth or lump in the pelvic region that is larger than typical or expected. Pelvic masses can come from various parts of the body including the ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, colon, bladder or other parts of the lower abdomen. Depending on the size and location, the mass can cause abdominal discomfort or pain, bloating, bowel or bladder problems, or other symptoms. Diagnosing a large pelvic mass often requires a physical exam, imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI, and sometimes biopsy or other diagnostic procedures. Treatment options will vary depending on the cause and severity of the pelvic mass, and may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or other interventions.
